FAQ

What are your office hours?

My hours vary depending on the week. I have weekday and weekend sessions available, including morning, midday, and evening sessions.

How long is a typical session?
Sessions are typically 45 minutes in length. I offer some longer sessions, per request, which are 90 minutes.
What do I do to get started?
You can schedule a session on my website directly. If you have questions before scheduling, feel free to fill out the contact information area, and I will be in touch within 72 hours.
What is the hourly fee?
My hourly fee for an individual is $185 per 45-minute session. Couples are $200 per 45-minute session.
How can I pay?
Payment is due at the end of the session and billed online to a card on file. I require a card on file to schedule sessions, making it easier for both of us. We don’t have to fuss with the financial part of it. I take credit cards, HSA/FSA, and cash if we meet in person.
Do you take insurance?

I am currently able to accept Northern California Kaiser insurance. Starting October 1st, 2023, I will begin to accept certain Aetna and Optum insurances. Outside of those insurances, I can provide you with a superbill for our sessions listed. You can give this to your insurance company to see reimbursement for any outside providers is provided to you.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
I understand when things come up. Therefore, please communicate with me so we can work something out. I do require a 24-hour cancellation policy. Less than a 24-hour notice or a no-show will result in you receiving a bill for the entire session. I keep that spot for you and cannot fill it when I have little warning.
What is an initial consultation?
It’s free! This consultation is an opportunity for us to see if we are a good fit for one another. Sometimes things don’t work out, and I may not be the best fit for your needs. That is okay. If I am not the best fit, I will be happy to provide you with a few referrals.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session allows me to get to know you and learn about your current struggles. We will devise a plan for things you want to work on in sessions.
Do you offer in-person sessions?

I have moved to fully remote as majority of my clientele preferred the ease of teletherapy sessions.

Do you offer phone sessions?
Yes, I do currently offer telephone sessions.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, I use Simple Practice to host my virtual sessions.
Are you licensed?
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Oregon. Receiving the license means that I have completed 3,000 hours of training and passed the Board of Behavioral Sciences Clinical Exams. Yay!
Do you prescribe medication?
I do not prescribe medication. If we feel you would benefit from an assessment for medication, I do have referrals with whom we can work.
What happens if I cry in session?
Then, I am glad you feel comfortable enough to let it go with me.
Do you ever cry during a session?
Yes, I have – promise I won’t cry harder than you!
You say that you work out – how much can you bench press?

I am known to hit 185 pounds on a bench press. Road to 200!

Does your dog Winnie ever come to the session with you?
She hasn’t, but I would consider it! She loves to cuddle.
