Hiking Therapy

552655030Experience an outdoor approach to mental wellness.

Walk and Talk Therapy sounds great, and you’re thinking, “What if there is more?”

Therapy takes place outdoors on the trail and involves partnering with nature as an aid in developing mental wellness. Rather than meet at the office and sit, we meet at the trail, where we walk and talk.

This hiking session is more ‘intense’ than the usual Walk and Talk Therapy with a bit more exertion. In a Hiking Therapy session, we will focus on personal goals, similar to what we might do in the office or via telehealth.

We get the added benefits of physical activity and time in nature. So many of us in the Bay Area live such a busy lifestyle that we have little time to incorporate movement and physical activity. Walk and Talk Therapy allows you to merge your physical and mental wellness.

Receive Nature-Based Stress Reduction.

We may implement Nature-Based Stress Reduction techniques during a hiking session.

These techniques may include: Mindfulness, Grounding skills, Observing plants and animals, or Expressive exercises.

Research shows that time in nature benefits our mental well-being.

Being in nature helps decrease anxiety and stress while calming the nervous system.

Nature helps improve our mood and increase self-esteem.

We also improve a sense of connection to the natural world.

Let’s see if you are a match for Hiking Therapy.

We must ensure that Hiking Therapy is a good fit for you. Therefore, before we meet outdoors, we will complete a brief screening, and an intake session completed virtually at session cost, to ensure that this format matches your needs.

In the screening, we will go over your comfort level outdoors and discuss the pros and cons of this type of therapy so that you can give informed consent after receiving all the details.

Before the first Hiking Therapy session, you will receive information on the location, which assures safety and confidentiality.

The hiking trail is in the San Jose area. I hope to see you soon on the trail.
